Winemaking
Winemaker Tresider Burns' artfully restrained approach to winemaking allows each vintage to tell the vineyard's story of the growing season. He utilizes our gravity flow winemaking facility and employs a delicate fermentation process with small lot fermentations and native yeasts. He pays attention to every detail to craft texture-driven wines of purity, sophistication, balance, and elegance.
Harvest
Every one of Alexana's wines is driven by each vineyard's unique site-specific climate and terroir. The grapes are hand-harvested based on overall physiological ripeness then triple hand-sorted to ensure that only the very best fruit goes into each vintage.
Fermentation
Using minimal intervention winemaking techniques to preserve the vineyard's character, we ferment each vineyard’s micro block separately based on its unique ripeness. This gives the winemaking team complete control over the range of expressions coming from each section of the vineyard.
Aging
After fermentation is complete, each of the vineyard blocks is aged in carefully selected French oak barrels from eight of the finest cooperages. As the wine ages, our winemakers closely monitor the development of flavor and character in each barrel.
Blending
Finally, our winemakers find the best expression of each vineyard block by selecting only the best lots for the final blends. The wines are then bottled and allowed to rest undisturbed until they are released.
